The Importance of Bringing Your Child To The Dentist

Though you may be doing a great job of brushing and flossing your child’s teeth it is important to bring your child to the dentist by the age of 3.

Bringing your child to the dentist early is an effective way to help prevent extensive dental treatment and allows your dentist to diagnose potential problems early on.  Your Dentist is going to be checking your child’s teeth for cavities, and potential risk for cavities, while making sure that teeth are erupting at the right time and in the right place!

Early detection and diagnosis of dental concerns means treatment is often easier and less expensive.  It’s usually your General Dentist who recognizes the need for orthodontic care, and may even be able to correct minor concerns with an appliance, or will refer your child to an orthodontist.  If your child is involved in sports your dentist may recommend that your child wear a sports-guard to protect against tooth loss or breakage.

Having a positive attitude about seeing the dentist will make the experience much easier for your child.  Letting them know that to expect at their upcoming visit can prepare your child and even create some excitement surrounding the appointment.
